INTRODUCING OUR COACHING TEAM FOR THE 2020-2021 SEASON
Coach Junior Temotio
Head Coach
Junior was a national-caliber swimmer for Brazil and the US. He is very passionate about swimming and its impact on student-athletes and the community. As a former athlete, he knows what it takes to set and accomplish goals. He was an age group national champion in the 50 Freestyle, 100 Breaststroke, and 100 Butterfly. Coach Junior, left Brazil when was 15 year of age to compete and graduate in the United States. He was a Conoco Phillips National and Junior National Qualifier as well as a medalist in the 2007 Speedo Sectionals in Federal Way, WA. Coach Junior graduated from East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science in Business/Marketing in 2012 where he was a four-year scholarship swimmer, holding records in several relays and ranked among the school’s Top 10 All Time in the 50 Freestyle and 100-yard butterfly.
Coach Junior gained a wide range of experience and coaching philosophies throughout the US, starting his career as a full-time age group coach for the West Houston Aquatic Team in Houston, Texas, and later excelling in Northern Oregon. Coach Junior coached a Senior group at Coral Springs Swim Club and prior to that was the Head age group coach for Bearcat Swim Club, now Mid Valley Aquatics in Salem, Oregon where he coached National level qualifiers and doubled the success rate of State and sectional level swimmers. He was also nominated for age group coach of the year in Oregon, in his second year of coaching. Additionally, while coaching at the club level, Coach Junior was the assistant coach for Willamette University men’s and women’s swim team.
Most recently, Coach Junior has taken his passion for swimming into coaching the Planet Swim Aquatic Team as a head age group coach and has tripled the number of FLAGS (Florida Age group championship) qualifiers in less than 2 years with many top 8 finalists.
Coach Junior, his wife , and his two daughters are excited to join the Shark Family and community of Ponte Vedra. His goal is to use his skills to foster a love for the sport of swimming, help student-athletes to develop a strong mindset, and encourage a goal driven mentality through discipline and a strong work ethic in and out of the water.
Coach Adriana Owen
Assistant Coach
Adriana Owen begins her first year as the swimming assistant coach for the PV Sharks. The Virginia Tech standout joins the staff after spending 2019-2020 as a full time assistant for the WPI Engineers in Worcester, Massachusetts. Last season, the men’s and women’s team scored third at the conference meet behind MIT and Coast Guard. In her first year of collegiate coaching, Owen was on staff with NE-10 Conference Champions, Assumption University while head coaching at Holyoke High School.
As a communication studies major, Owen served as a team ambassador and was a member of the Hokies Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and Athletics Leadership Advisory Team. In the water, the 2016 Olympic trial qualifier earned All-American honorable mention status in the 200 and 400 medley relays while also taking part in the 400 free relay at the 2018 NCAA Division I Championships. Owen, who was also part of the runner up 200 medley relay at the 2018 ACC Championships, is still atop the Virginia Tech program record board in all three events, as well as, the Christiansburg Aquatic Center pool record board in the 200 medley relay.

Coach Bryson Valentine
Assistant Coach
Coach Bryson returns to the PVHS Sharks Swim Team for his 4th season. Coach Bryson brings with him a diverse background of coaching and educational experience. He began his coaching career with the club he swam for in Neptune Beach, FL. Coach Bryson began with the club as an Age-group Clinician before moving to the Assistant Age-group Coach position. While with the team he helped the club win multiple River City League Championship Titles. During the summer months, Coach Bryson also worked at the Sandalwood neighborhood pool for the City of Jacksonville as a lifeguard, swim instructor, and swim coach. During his tenure at Sandalwood, Coach Bryson provided low-cost lessons to hundreds of children under Mayor Alvin Brown’s “Learn-to-swim” initiative. This provided children who normally did not have the funds or access to lessons, the opportunity to receive city funded lessons with certified instructors. He also served as the 10&older coach for the Sandalwood Summer league team.
Following his time at Sandalwood, Coach Bryson moved to Atlantic Beach Country Club, where he was the Pool Deck Manager and Assistant Swim Coach. During his time at ABCC he brought a higher level of professionalism and safety to all pool deck operations. Coach Bryson was a part of the staff that took the team from a 7th place championship finish, to a close 2nd place championship finish in 1 year. Following this Coach Bryson joined the PVHS coaching staff in 2017. He also took a new position at the community development called Beachwalk in St. Johns county. He began with Beachwalk as a lifeguard supervisor before transitioning to the Assistant Manager of Maintenance and Operations.
Coach Bryson graduated from the University of North Florida in the spring of 2020 with a B.S. in Sport Management. He currently works for UNF full time as an Athletic Facilities and Operations Assistant and is currently a Graduate Student at the University of Central Florida where he is working towards a Master of Emergency and Crisis Management degree. Coach Bryson is in the early stages of beginning his research on the societal inequities found in emergency preparedness.
Aside from swimming, Coach Bryson’s hobbies include watching any college sport and volunteering with nonprofit organizations that serve a variety of objectives. Coach Bryson is excited to return to the PVHS coaching staff and looks forward to helping students grow, not just as athletes but as young adults.
